What does this poem mean?

seems as though this is a man who is broken and humbled before God as result of a death of someone hostile to God. of what faith specifically, i am not sure. but it seems to be of Christian influence and very "Job-like". and by that, i mean it sounds a lot like the book of Job in hebrew scriptures.
